ok even though my kart is almost done welding, i still havnt learned how to use a welder. my dads friend welded it so far... so what i was thinking is that i should get a welding helmet for when i start welding but all the autodarkening helmets are kind of expensive (i dont like to pay much) $70+...
my dads boss suggested ebay:

around $45 canadian! but i think theres cheaper ones...

Northern (http://clickserve.cc-dt.com/link/click?lid=41000000013213546) has one for $49 USD. I think harbor freight around me usually has one for a similar price, but it feels kinda junky. I paid 100 for a Lincoln one at home depot a few years ago, and it's completely worth it having one. I can't imagine not.

I've been using that solar type welding helmet for about a year now. I love it! I'll never go back to the old flip down style.

I've decided to not buy from ebay. Today I'm going to KMS tools and thay have a $60 welding helmet on sale (auto darkening of course). It's original price is $100 so I think it will be good...
