The Go-kart

This Month I started upgradeing my whole go-kart. The go-kart is a Manco Stinger. I can't find the go-kart on the site proboaly beacase it is so old. But whatever. I bought the kart for $175 and the engine was on it way out. I got about 5 months out of the engine and now I can start the engine but when I hit the gas it Kills itself. So I decide to do a huge Upgrade.

the Picture is of the whole go-kart before any upgrades where done to it. I will post pictures of it when it is finshed.

The Seat

I just finished My new seat. The old seat was cracked. So I took the vinel off the wood staple by staple (Time consuming). I went to the craft store and bought new Vinel and Padding. Then I cut out the wood and covered it with padding and the the vinel. Then I greased the slideing rails to make the seat slide back and forth. The old seat had no back exept a metal bar and it hurt when you hit a bump. so I copied the measerments from bottom of the seat and moved it to the back and it feels really nice when i sit in it.

The first two Pictures are of the old seat.
The Third and Fourth are of the New Seat.
The Fifth Picture is the underside of the bottom seat (Includes Slideing Lever)
The Sixth Picture Is of the Greased Sliding Rail.
The Seventh Picture is of the Back side of the seat.

The Old Engine

The old engine was about 5hp and could get me too speeds of maybe 30 mhp. The Old engine had a gas tank that was attached to the back of the seat and it kept falling off. I could start the engine but when I hit the gas it died. the engine was on its way out any way.

The First five pictures are all differnt angles of the old Motor.
The Seventh and Eighth Pictures are of the Gas Tank.

The old engine probably just needed a good cleaning of the carb.
Did you try that?

I did not try cleaning it but when Irought it to lanwmower repair guy he fix it for a couple of mounths and it died agian. Plus I figured I was going to make the rest of the kart new I might as well get a new motor. Can't wait till the shipments comein so I can work on it and then ride it

yeah, i've found on many engines that are old, removing the needle from the valve, there's often "junk" in the passageways. Blow that stuff out, reseat (be careful) and then it would run again until the carb sucked some more junk out of the tank. Also drop the tank and clean it as best as possible.
