all we have to now is run some wires and put on the diamond plate. the reason why its not painte don the top is so the heavy duty truck glue can stick to bare steel. Here is some pictures that might help out some people. All the stuff was all made by us including the spindles and steering comonents which turned out very nice.

Man that thing is sexy! Gives me some ideas to make mind not all crappy! What benefit does a torque converter have over a clutch?

that things looks sweet. I WANT updates on the steering. Tell me about shake, handling, etc. I stopped recommending home-made tie rods (though I've made one with them) but I want to hear the results!!!

You get low-end power while still being able to have a decent top end. It adjusts itself as you drive depending on the needs. If you need power, you get power, if you don't, you get speed.

With a torque converter and a 72 tooth sporcket on the rear I can climb walls with this thing! I can park it in a ditch and get out with a bit of thottle.

And the tie rods where copied off this site. And You know the hollow tubing that the 3/4 axle is welded onto? There is virtually NO slop in there. Our half inch bolt measurres .495 or somthing like that and the tubing meausures .500. Talk about getting lucky at the steel shop!. Even at high speeds I have no wobble in this kart. Its VERY safe. It turns like a dream it feels like driving a real car. Its going to look even better when we glue down the diamond plate and run the wiring. We have head lights to put on and guess what? We are putting on neon underglow! Not the tube type but you just stick on these little pod things with 4 Very bright led's in them and they look sick!

Hey does that 6.5 HP engine give you enough power??
Im making a 2 seater with a 11HP, 337cc, 2500RPM engine Im hoping that will give me enough power to climb a pretty big hill with speed!!
jr dragster Tyler
07-04-2008, 07:46 PM
if you get a torque converter like me yes tons of power. Cent cluthes SUCK!!!!

Dont use it. You will slip the belt like HE@# and why cant you just run a jackshaft and one off em heavy duty ones that can handle 18 or so?

because not everyones daddy buys them a $5000 billet motor
jr dragster Tyler
07-05-2008, 07:54 AM
Ed can you stop with all this 50$ an hour and all this 5000$ billet stuff? I was giving the guy his best options. If he buys the 8 HP one hes just gona be buying new belts every week. And I dont know his back round who knows maybe he has the money? ever think of that? I always try to give somone there best practical option. And the heavy duty one isnt much more than the torqueAverter.

Dont use it. You will slip the belt like HE@#
What if I also buy a stronger belt??
jr dragster Tyler
07-05-2008, 10:14 AM
Only the COMET belts fit the COMET CVT so finding a stronger belt might be hard. and he belt as different angles on each side of the belt. Its called a asy-symetric clutch because the fixed shieve is straight up, but the movable shieve has a angle on it.
