Yes Russ, better than coffee! Touch it while it's running...it won't hurt/kill you. Anyone ever stuck a 9 volt battery to their tongue? That's what it feels like. HEI hurts the most, I too have done that on a chevy sbc. Scared the :censored: outta me because I didn't know I touched the wire!

It can cause a heart attack if you do it continuously/long enough.

IIRC like 400millivolts is enough to stop your heart
isnt a heart attack where your coronary arteries/veins get blocked?

touching the spark plug will not kill you, maybe like 1 in a trillion chance. its like 30,000 volts but no amps therefore it'll hurt like :censored: but not strong enough to kill you.

We've all been zaped at least once..
Havn't we...
On one of my older engine is has an ex-ternal clip onto the spark plug, and the only way to shut it off is to manually disconect the spark plug lead...
Gets ya everytime. :censored: :censored:

You need to pull off the flywheel shroud and possibly the flywheel if its points style ignition and add a kill wire. Another way to kill these is to short the plug with a sheet metal flap held down with one of the head bolts.

The way I kill engines set up like that is a simple hand over the carb. Provided you don't :censored: up the tune and it doens't backfire, it works well and sure beats being shocked!

Thats a good way to wear out an engine, all your doing is flooding it which WASHES THE OIL OFF THE CYLINDER WALLS. Some people on here need to buy a kill switch.

I know I know i've washed down a 2 cycle before but there is oil in the fuel so that just gives it some "after run oil" But washdown on a 4 cycle is EXTREMLY bad.

Yea I know, but as a temporary or emergency thing it woks. And I just wired up my engine stand for a kill switch so I don't have to do that anymore.

I'm meaning the actual tip of the sparkplug that ignites the mixture. I'm wondering how different it is than the lead.

Choking also tends to pull oil up past rings from crankcase. Kind of a reverse blowby.
