Steering Help

I am building a gocart out of recycled parts and I am stuck on the steering system. Can anyone tell me what type of system to use and maybe how to build it? Thanks.

There are several good write ups on this and other sites. Basically, you need a steering shaft which is usually encased in a tube with bushing at either end. One end has the steering wheel and the other has pittman arms which you connect the tie rods to. The tie rods run from the pittman arms to the left and right spindles. Here is a good diagram:
