C brackets

I have another question. Will aluminum C brackets be strong enough to hold up an aluminum frame and about a 110 pound driver?

source???? If you mean where thay're coming from them im making then either out of 1/4" flatstock or some big square tubing cut in half

you've got an aluminum setup on your welding rig?

yup the frame is all 1 1/2" aluminum tubing. theres only a few things that are steel. so the frame by itself might weigh 5-10 pounds probably closer to 10 though :D the motor weighs 37 lbs dry. so around 160 pounds for me, the frame and the motor

I have no idea about aluminum in regards to strength, though. maybe someone else?

well for those of you who dont know the other option already it is to get some 1 /14" steel tubing that'll fit inside the existing frame and bolt it on and just weld the rest onto that.

That thing is going to haul at that weight! Alluminum is weaker than steel but I'm not sure if its too weak for the C brakets.

i might take the chance but because my dad's friend is REALLY nice i got all that aluminum for free so if it dosnt hold up and it brakes that might not be so good... but 1/4 flat stock should be fairly strong i think...

You're fine with 1/4" steel. That's what I used.
