Building a go kart

Well me and a friend have had this idea for about 4 months now.. and im finally getting time to do it! I was wondering how much (roughly) making/buying everything, but the engine, would cost? frame, steering, brakes, etc?

Not including the engine, and whether you buy on eBay or gokart websites, I'd estimate around $200-400

Yup, he is right on the money. I've gotten all my parts minus the engine that I had for 300. Bought some parts rather than make them. Purchased:

clutch
tubes
wheels
tires
l and r spindles (complete)
sprocket
steering wheel
steering shart w associated hardware
steering wheel cap
band brake
band drum
chain

Almost 300 to the penny.
