Holy Cow, Ironman! That is going to be COOL! Gotta love those HF 6.5hp engines, huh? That's cool how you laid it out. The way I did my Lowrider... I sat on a tile floor with 1' tiles and measured where my butt was, my feet... etc.... I can't wait to see this one go!

Awwww dude, I hadn't seen this thread before! That's looking awesome! Are those Douglas Wheels? They look identical to the ones I'm using on my kart.

Man, and at $100 for all! You lucky son of a gun! I paid way more than that and everything was used. I will have to polish mine up to make them look nice like yours. If I ever have a kid, I just might make a small kart like that!

that thing is gunna be hella fast! very very cool. what gearing are you going to be using?

oscaryu1
03-21-2008, 09:31 AM
It should go around 40. Remove the governor... :D

5000-5300RPM before coil bind. Replace coils, go higher, BANG. Byebye rod :D

If it's for a kid, I don't think it'd be a good idea to make it ridiculously fast.

5:1 ratio :sifone: Great!

BTW, very nice! Love the wheels and rims :sifone:

You also might wanna check the torque specs for that engine. 99% of the time, they're outta spec. But, I got the engine exactly like yours, runs like a dream. :smartass:

it looks great, but i would NEVER take the governor off a knock off motor.

I have the same motor. Already done :sifone:

Just replace the rod and flywheel if you're going over 5000RPM...

Valve floating at 5300RPM, then it throws the rod...

what about valve springs floating? Need stiff ones in those cheapies.

oscaryu1
03-23-2008, 06:59 AM
They float at 5300RPM. Much more than the 3600RPM stock... and I doubt he wants to even go that fast...

ironman - How did you get the axle and sprocket together? That's been the part that always confused me...

2or3wheels

looks like he slid it on and has a keyway and set screw to keep it in place.

you got it this one is for my 6 year old. and im not worry about super speed on this one going to leave it like it is for now until he wants more power.very easy axle setup bearing on each side slide alxe threw put on sprocket when siding threw than add a key in the middle of sprocket and tighten down the set screw the rims work the same way to. when i change rims the hubs stay on.

With the 12/60 ratio and that HF engine, your son will fly on that thing. Should top out at around 30mph-ish with the governor on, and you'll get hellish acceleration! I'm sure Dad's gonna want to take it for a few laps.... you know, just to try it out...(heh,heh)

ironman
03-26-2008, 08:53 PM
o you no that i plan on hopping on it and testing it out first .all my neighbors call me the big kid on the block all the kids come around to see all the goodies......:iagree:

humm.. got a problem took the mini for a quick test just to see how it would feel super take off.but rear axle slid and chain shot off going to need to collar it on each side has allen head bolts on the pillow block but i cannot get a allen wrench to fit in there to tight of a space.

ironman
04-21-2008, 02:38 PM
Ok took out mini kart again axle stayed in place now that i tighten the allen head bolts no problem there.New problem this kart has no turning.I mean it turns but it wants to keep going straight when you turn the wheels.
If you lean forward it does a little better but none of my other karts do this and i have had the wide tires on the front of them to.It is impossible to make any sharp turns.

kibble
04-21-2008, 03:00 PM
Maybe because it's so small AND live axle it has a hard time losing grip from one tire when you're turning. Instead both rear tires have equal grip and just keep the kart going straight.

Yea i think so .I think i will just do a make-over on it im going to strech the frame 16" that way old dad can ride on it to plus. after today test run shot the clutch.Stuck and will not disengage. When it does all you here is metal on metal grinding.
so thats what the plans are for this weekend.

wells theres another clutch thats a piece of junk after 5 minutes of riding clutch stays engaged.kick it and it will come unstuck some. and yes i oiled it still didnt help any.
never had a probelm with 41 pitch. but this 35 just dont seem tough enough.first was a comet seond one is cent. and yes there is play in the chain.
